Hotel & Resort Tre Fontane Luxury

We had a really good stay here while on vacation. The rooms were modern and clean, the staff were excellent, and breakfast was good too. It’s a handy base for exploring the area, away from the bustle of central Naples. There’s a train station within easy walking distance, plus a shuttle to another train line, so getting around without a car was simple.

The main letdown was the food and bar service later in the day. Breakfast ran smoothly, with plenty of staff moving around, but by the pool and in the afternoon there didn’t seem to be enough people working. Those who were there often looked put out by basic requests, and we saw guests waiting to order while staff lounged nearby. The hotel and rooms are lovely, and the word “luxury” fits. It’s a little outside Naples’ busy center, but still a short taxi ride away, or a brief walk to the train station. The neighborhood itself isn’t especially lively, though a short stroll gets you closer to Portici and some really nice cafes and restaurants.

We especially enjoyed the breakfast, with plenty of sweet and savory choices, fruit, juice and pastries. They take your coffee order and bring it to the table. Just keep an eye on your food, since pigeons wander around and the staff don’t seem too bothered by them. The pool and gym were quiet when we visited at the end of September and start of October, so we had them to ourselves. There was construction underway, but it wasn’t loud enough to bother us. Our room had a lovely view, and the walk down toward the water was pretty. The facilities were fantastic, and the room itself was luxurious and peaceful, with a very spacious double bed and the most comfortable mattress either of us can remember. We tried the snack menu at lunch and ate dinner at the restaurant, and both were very good. I’d recommend the linguini with shrimp tartare, and there’s another restaurant on the property that was really good too. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel can arrange lots of trips, though we didn’t book any. We only wish we’d stayed a few more days and could see ourselves coming back to Naples. The nearest station is manageable with luggage, though not the easiest walk.

We had a king suite, room 315, with lots of space and a great view across the Mediterranean. Paolo at reception was wonderful, gave us plenty of helpful information, and got us checked in quickly. There’s a train station about five minutes away for getting into central Naples.
