Colonna Country Club

The pool itself was nice, and the porter who handled our luggage was kind and efficient. Most staff were polite, but our overall stay fell well short of what we expected for the price and the advertised four-star rating. It felt more like a three-star hotel. The worst service was from a young receptionist when we asked about renting a boat. She interrupted us to speak to another guest, seemed impatient, and showed no interest in helping. My husband speaks fluent English and Spanish, so language wasn't the problem. We ended up renting through an app ourselves. Breakfast was another serious letdown. Bees were all over the area, and my 2-year-old son was stung. No one seemed to do anything about it. Poolside, nobody came over to offer drinks or other service. We had to leave the area and pay a €5 deposit at reception for a towel, then walk back to the room soaking wet. Adding the charge to the room would be easier. The room was dark and dated, with very little space, no vanity table, and no full-length mirror. The bed was small and uncomfortable, and the pillow was so hard I woke up with neck pain every day. The replacement pillow was just as hard, and there was only one per person to begin with. The bedside lamp on my side didn't work. The tiny bathroom counter left no room for my things, and its light blinked and buzzed unbearably when switched on. The gardens were beautiful, but that couldn't make up for all the details that affected our stay.

Porto Cervo is a beautiful spot in Sardinia, and the hotel's central location was a real plus. The pool was great for relaxing, and the staff were welcoming and kind. We had some lovely moments with our family during the summer break, but the stay had its letdowns. The hotel feels very dated, and the rooms need more than new furniture, the whole structure needs work. We could hear everything from next door. Breakfast had very little choice, no fresh fruit, and no way to make toast. The beach towels we asked for were old and almost falling apart. Given the price, I don't think the hotel earns its four-star rating.

We loved staying here and thought the hotel as a whole was amazing. The bedrooms are a bit dated, though.

For five days, we had to deal with dirty towels twice, with actual sh** on them. Even after showing the staff, it seemed they used the towels again. There also wasn't enough parking for all the guests, even though we were there in mid June. The rooms are extremely old, with worn paint, 1990s colors, and ugly, uncomfortable furniture and beds. To me this is an OK two-star hotel, and the price should match that, around ~100€ a night. It's not worth paying more. This is not a four-star place.
