Dei Pini

The music went on late, and I couldn't sleep before 2 or 3 in the morning. For two days I asked to move away from the noise in the hallway and the loud music, but the staff didn't care. They were hostile and rude, and I felt their hate as soon as I spoke to anyone. They kept insulting me in Italian when they realized I didn't speak the language. The whole place stinks, even the walls, and it's the dirtiest hotel I've been to. They don't change the bed sheets, the air conditioning is a joke, and the room toilets are disgusting, like something from a horror movie. The hotel doesn't meet basic European standards. You can't even iron a shirt, and there isn't a single carpet on the floors. The receptionists were the least friendly people I've ever encountered. This was the worst experience of my life. If you want to ruin your vacation and waste your money while the staff spit in your face, choose hotel Dei Pini.

The pool was nice, with toys for the kids, but the towel policy was ridiculous. They don't provide pool towels, so bring your own. Using a shower towel by the pool gets you a penalty, and there's no option to get extra towels. This was the only hotel we stayed at in Sicily that worked this way. The others, from Cefalù to Mt Etna to Marsala, at least let you rent pool or beach towels. The mattress was so thin I felt like I was on the floor. We also found stray hairs from someone else on the toilet lid and in the sink when we arrived. Breakfast was fine, though the juice was extremely watered down. We were there within an hour of breakfast opening. Everything reeked of stale cigarettes, so the hotel clearly used to allow smoking indoors. There were two elevators in our wing, but only one worked. They were tiny, with room for just one person and a suitcase at a time. Not ideal, and accessibility would be a problem for anyone with any kind of access needs. A stroller wouldn't fit. I wouldn't stay here again without a complete interior overhaul. But the pool was nice.

The rooms were clean and had enough space for a solo tourist, and everyone working there gave good service. I felt very safe, with cops around all the time. Food was bad, mostly pasta and fried food. Breakfast was the one good meal. The Wi-Fi was unreliable every day in 2025, working sometimes and dropping out other times.

I couldn't fall asleep, so I assume the experience would have been an absolute nightmare. For some reason there was a caraoce bar by the pool, with a bunch of drunk yodling cats crying out what passes for music until midnight, right under my window. The staff were completely unresponsive and dismissive about this clear violation of quiet hour laws, and brushed off every complaint.
