Resort le Picchiaie

The pool was a lovely place to unwind after the beach, and breakfast had plenty of good variety. The rooms are simple, clean, and practical. There's a great view here, and with the new management the atmosphere is excellent. Prices are fair, too. A straightforward, well-situated base for exploring the island, and good value for the money.

For a four-star resort, this felt like poor value. The location is good, though the drive up is steep and bumpy. Parking was available and the Wi-Fi worked well; breakfast was just okay. Staff seemed overwhelmed, unhelpful, and unprofessional. The grounds looked dated and weren't well maintained. Our so-called superior room was very old, had no terrace, and the bathroom tub leaked. Cleanliness and amenities were poor. One evening, we lost electricity and had none through the night. That meant no air conditioning, and we had to use water from the room fridge. Power was on in other parts of the resort, but our problem wasn't fixed until morning. We asked to change rooms and were told the resort was full, with nothing else available, though more than half the rooms appeared vacant. We still paid the full price and got only a €35 discount and a bottle of wine as an apology. Make sure to ask for your bill. I posted this review over a year ago, but it disappeared.

The view from the hotel's wonderful location could be one of its biggest strengths, but the neglected feel of the property takes away from it. We stayed three nights at Le Picchiaie Resort. The hotel is dated and needs work, though small things could be addressed without major spending. The windows facing that lovely view were smudged and almost opaque, which really spoiled the experience. One day, housekeeping didn't make up our room. Given the condition and lack of care, the price didn't feel right for what we got. A splendid setting alone can't make up for a place that feels overlooked.

The rooms were dated, particularly the bathrooms, and need renovating. We were glad to hear the new management is already planning a complete renovation, so we're optimistic about what's ahead. Even with that drawback, the warm welcome and well-run service made our stay enjoyable. We were there with friends on a motorcycle tour, and the place charmed us with its beautiful setting and unforgettable views. A big thank you to all the staff for being so kind, professional, and courteous from the moment we arrived. They made us feel at home. I'd definitely recommend staying here, and I'll come back to see the improvements.
