Taccone Home B&B

The hospitality was what stayed with us most. Salvo and Silvia really looked after us and made us feel at home, and we hope to return soon. We were at Taccone Home in Portopalo from July 4th to 13th, in a very spacious and comfortable suite made up of two connecting rooms. The brand-new B&B has six rooms, and the housekeeping, overseen by Silvia, was impeccable. It has the feel of a grand hotel, with comfortable rooms and careful attention to detail. The breakfast room and reception area are roomy and well-appointed, and breakfast was generous. One morning we tried the made-to-order frozen breakfast, granita and brioche. The location is great for experiencing this small village in Sicily's deep south and for excursions around the Baroque part of Sicily. Noto is only a few kilometers away, and we also visited Syracuse and the beautiful towns of Ragusa, including Modica, Scicli, and Ibla. A stay we highly recommend!

Salvo, the lovely local manager, gave us great advice and had a delightful, distinctive laugh. Silvia was very sweet, too. The property was brand new and spotless, and we stayed nearly two weeks. It feels more like a hotel than a B&B. The location is just off the main road, but there are no reserved parking spots, so in August it can be a hassle to find a nearby space if you're staying several days. Our room was really small and looked onto an inner courtyard, with a municipal wall covered in dove droppings as the view. The owners should try to improve that, both for appearance and hygiene. The room and breakfast cost much more than average, closer to what you'd expect for a four-star hotel with a sea view. Given the property's potential, I'd suggest bringing the prices down a bit and adding some local sweet and savory specialties to breakfast.

Andrea was a huge help, suggesting places and beaches to visit based on the weather, and his niece was so kind and cheerful as she treated us to delicious breakfasts. The B&B was clean, carefully looked after, and the staff were really friendly. Highly recommended, you'll have a wonderful time!

We had a wonderful weekend staying with Concetta and Peppino. The place has recently been renovated and was spotless. At reception we met Salvatore, who was such a special person and made us feel right at home. Highly recommended.
