The bathroom was the worst part. My room was on the first floor, and even with the shower turned all the way up, the water only trickled out and never got very warm. The toilet sat partly underneath the sink, so someone bigger than me might not even be able to get to it. The room was so bare that when I shared a photo online, people asked if it was a prison cell. The amenities are very basic. Stone floors kept the place cold and carried every little sound through the building, making it hard to sleep without interruptions. Breakfast was basic too: no milk for the cereal, one croissant as the only fresh item, and everything else was supermarket food in plastic wrappers. The staff were a mixed bag, the younger guys were really friendly, while the older men seemed very miserable. They rarely spoke English, so communication was tough, though maybe I should learn Italian.

This is an old hotel that hasn’t been renovated, but it’s in good shape, tidy and clean. The building has an authentic feel, with wood almost everywhere. It’s close enough to the city center that you can walk to everything. Breakfast was sufficient, the staff were friendly, and the price was reasonable.

The rooms were okay, but the place wasn’t set up for a large group. Staff couldn’t speak English, which made communication difficult, and at times they were rude and not very helpful. We found ants in one room, but no one did anything about it. There was no hot water for the first two days of our trip, and it took that long to get it fixed. The food was fine but the choices were limited. Breakfast was only croissants, juice and coffee. It wasn’t a great experience, though I suppose it could have been worse.

The showers were very dirty. They moved us to another room, but its shower was dirty too. We only found out about the parking fee when we checked out. Everyone seemed miserable and negative, and nobody was willing to do anything to make up for our bad stay.

The room smelled awful, and the bathroom stench was so bad I thought I’d throw up. Breakfast was good, and the waiter was really nice. Those are the only reasons I’m giving it one star.
