Albergo Del Sole

Breakfast was meant to be at a bar half a kilometer away. The restaurant wasn't much to write home about either: my spaghetti with mussels and lupini came with just 2 mussels and 4 tiny clams. The fried anchovies and cod were good, though the cod was one regular-sized piece, not small pieces. The owner was very kind and came quickly when I reported the air conditioning leaking. He put a bucket underneath it, but the unit was old, noisy, and still leaking. His helpfulness couldn't make up for how run-down the place was. I only stayed because there were no other facilities in town, otherwise I would've left right away. The room was full of old furniture, including a much-too-large table. The door scraped the floor when opened. The towels were old and mismatched, the sheets had holes, and I didn't even dare check the mattress. The pillows were stuffed with some unidentified material and smelled awful. In the bathroom, the mirror was rusty and looked ancient, like everything else. I can't call this a hotel, or even a guesthouse. I feel bad saying it because the owner was so nice, but he should put some money into making the place acceptable enough to be called one.

The rooms fell well short of even basic standards for cleanliness and decency.

The furniture was worn out and broken, and the room smelled bad. I couldn't imagine spending the night there. How can a place like this still be called a hotel?

I only stopped in for lunch, and everything was great. The price matched the quality well too.
