Appartamento San Leonardo

The yellow domes inside are lovely, and there’s a painting of the baptism along one aisle. In the choir, a small statue of the Saint sits in a display case, as you see in many churches around here. It’s a pretty little church just beyond the port, on the way toward the abbey church and the palace-prison.

A quiet, unassuming chapel. Inside, the soft colors and pure devotion to the Lord invite calm reflection. Prayer feels like an undiminished joy, a communion with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Fan, who lead us through the flames of hell.

As a football fan, I loved this iconic spot in Procida, where Liverpool player Federico Chiesa was born.

Local sailors built this church on the foundations of a 16th-century chapel, out of devotion to Saint Leonard, their protector and liberator. Inside, there are numerous statues from the 19th century.
