Luna Sardinia

The beach access is good, and the atmosphere is really relaxing. Breakfast was enjoyable, but lunch and dinner let us down: the portions were small and the food lacked flavor. One dinner was especially bad. The meat was tough and impossible to chew, and the fries were old and cold. The rooms are comfortable, though they’re quite worn, with visible mold along the edges and yellowing surfaces.

We stayed at Luna Sardinia for four days during semana santa, and the way the team handled a problem really stood out. The air conditioning in our room wasn’t working, so late at night they found a solution and moved us to a small villa. The next day, the air conditioning needed a repair, and they ended up upgrading us for the rest of the stay. They were quick and efficient, and after that the trip was perfect. A really nice place with lovely people, just what you want for a restful break.

The hotel has a unique position on this part of the coast, with almost private, secluded beaches, and a stunning swimming pool atop the small hill where it sits. Service is attentive and the food is good, with a nicely balanced sophistication. It’s a charming place with a long history, the first resort in Sardinia since the 50s. Rehabilitation work to modernize the infrastructure is coming soon, and it’s clearly needed at this level and price of hospitality, especially in the rooms.

Matteo, the manager, was genuinely nice and offered a complimentary gesture because the room was overpriced. He’s the only reason this is a 3 rather than a 1. Without him, it would have been a terrible stay. The service and attitude were very disappointing. Staff were generally unfriendly and sometimes rude. When we asked questions, it felt like we were bothering them. They weren’t welcoming to non-Italian speakers, which is unacceptable for an international destination. I noticed they were much nicer and more accommodating with Italian guests. Our first room was very old and had a tiny bathroom, not worth the price. A woman at reception showed us another room. She spoke English but seemed impatient and said, “You need to look quickly because I have to go back to work.” That says it all.
