Poggio Desto Bed & Breakfast

A great place to stay when visiting Florence if you enjoy the Tuscan countryside and atmosphere.

Really great B&B.

After more than 15 years of staying here for work, this is a bitter end to a place I used to rely on. The service had already been getting noticeably worse over the last few years, and I’d started coming less often. What happened yesterday was unacceptable. I arrived around 5:30 PM on December 15th and was given a freezing room. It was so cold I couldn’t take off my jacket. The manager told me casually that the heat only comes on from 6:30 PM to midnight, then stays off until 5:00 AM and, as I understood it, only runs until 9:00 AM. I asked them to turn it on earlier because of how cold the room was. I was told someone would come, but nobody did. I waited about two hours for the room and bathroom to become even slightly livable so I could shower. At midnight, in line with the “regulations,” the heating went off. By 1:00 AM the room was freezing again, and I spent the night cold, waiting for it to come back on at 5:00 AM. It only stayed on for a few hours. Sleeping like that isn’t rest, it’s resistance. Charging €75 for this kind of service is indecent. This isn’t hospitality, it’s a shameful disservice. I can’t help wondering what would have happened if a family with small children or elderly people had been in my place. Would they have been left to sleep in the cold too? After all these years, this experience ends it for me. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Some places deserve your money, time, and respect, and this one definitely doesn’t. I’ll never return!!!

The owners gave us a wonderful welcome. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there’s secure, convenient parking. It’s a farm in the Tuscan hills with a beautiful, large pool.
