La Villa di Cala Regina

We'd happily go back today. The new bathrooms, bedrooms, and terrace were a pleasure, and everything was very well looked after. With the wonderful house and pool, the seclusion, and those incredible Sardinian views, we had a fantastic week.

Luisa was warm and quick to help with our questions about places to see and where to shop. We also arranged a dinner through her, made by Marina and delivered one evening for an extra charge. It was worth it: Sardinian dishes including fregola, boar stew, fennel and citrus salad, and pastries. La Barbara, which Luisa recommended for fish, was amazing too. We loved the four days at the villa. The views are stunning, the rooms are beautiful, and there is so much provided, from kitchen things and linens to towels, a washer with laundry soap, and hair dryers. There's no dryer. Art and little objects throughout the house made it feel homey, and Luisa's garden is lovely, with basil too. There's a recycling system to follow, which we found manageable and appreciated. We were also asked not to put toilet paper in the WC; when we asked, we were advised to avoid it, at least for urinating, so we went along with that. The villa even has its own Spanish fort, and the area has gorgeous beaches, shops, and restaurants. Luisa was gracious and very helpful throughout. Go if you can. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime stay, and as she says, "Sardinia is addictive."

The apartment is a decent size and the sea view is amazing, but there are a lot of responsibilities that weren't mentioned on Booking. You can't put any kind of paper in the toilet, and you have to feed a cat. When a pipe broke, we had no water for a day. We were also told not to waste any water, including for things that seem reasonable. There's no safe, either. We had no hot water for two days because we found out the owner had switched off the electric boiler to avoid wasting electricity. I gave it two stars for the size and view. If you don't want to deal with these rules, don't stay here. I can't say whether there are issues with robbers, but I'm not sure. These responsibilities aren't shown on Booking.
