Casa Rossa ai Colli

The hostess was lovely and very kind, even though we had virtually no Italian. The area is beautiful, but our sat nav had trouble finding it. The room was spacious and nice, though June felt a little hot without air conditioning.

We had breakfast out on the terrace, looking over the countryside, and the beds were really comfortable. I was here for a wedding reception, easily the best I've attended, and the staff did everything they could to make sure we had what we needed. The buildings and grounds are lovely, with stunning views, and the team is clearly very capable and professional. It's a great choice for an event, but would be just as good for a peaceful getaway. I'd happily come back.

The view changes beautifully through the evening. Just before sunset is a lovely time to take it in, and if you miss that, the lights across the Friulian plain at night look like a nativity scene. You can see San Daniele to the left and the Tagliamento river on the right. The restaurant sits in a wonderful spot. The service was good and could reach a top level with a few improvements. Food was good too, and they paid particular attention to dietary needs and intolerances, though one dish had a flaw, so I couldn't give the food five stars.

I'll be back. The owner and the servers were professional while still being friendly and personal, which makes a difference. The valley below and San Daniele hill look great from here, and the food felt fairly priced for its high quality.
