We were six, including small children, and cut our stay short by a day because the problems made it impossible to enjoy the holiday. When our two-year-old misplaced the keys while playing, departure turned hostile. The owner, Placido, reacted aggressively alongside two elderly people who verbally intimidated us. They demanded we call a locksmith, although the rules set a €60 charge per lost key and we were willing to pay. Placido also threw water from the terrace without checking who was below, putting us and the children at risk. He refused to inspect the €200 deposit with us when we left, saying he would refund it by bank transfer. With furniture already broken, that felt open to arbitrary disputes. The house is out in the Ragusa countryside, far from the center. There is private parking and a driveway to the entrance, but it was completely dark at night. With little kids, we had to find our way using phones or flashlights, which felt like a serious lack of care for guest safety. Outside, the old pool was well purified, but the rest looked unfinished, including the flooring. The stairs to the terrace were neglected, and around six or seven stray cats, thin and sickly looking, kept roaming there and using it as a toilet. They soiled the loungers, chairs, and even clothes, so we couldn't use the area. The owner charged us for cleaning, as though guests were at fault for the property's poor management. Indoors wasn't any better: shabby old furnishings, broken pieces, faulty door handles that meant we had to lock the door with a key, a very basic kitchen, and neglected bedrooms. Worst of all was the sickening sewer smell throughout the house. Sometimes the bathrooms couldn't be used. When we complained, the owner's answer was just to use deodorant, which was no way to deal with such a serious problem. Novasol manages the property. Their phone staff were kind and helpful, but none of the many issues were resolved. This stay ruined our vacation. The place was dilapidated, dirty, badly managed, overrun by stray cats, and had serious hygiene problems. The owner was aggressive and unreliable. I absolutely wouldn't recommend it to families with children or anyone expecting even basic seriousness and transparency.
