The countryside around Donnafugata was lovely for a ride, and the horses were cared for and easy to handle. We were picked up at the tiny train station, which was really helpful. Everyone was friendly and laid-back. It’s a very remote spot, and Donnafugata itself is small and quiet.
The setting is lovely, green, and full of animals, since this is a working farm. But it’s very isolated, about 20 minutes from the nearest town, and the restaurant menu wasn’t in English; nobody we met spoke English. Breakfast was poor and dinner expensive. The room was clean, modern, and minimal, though hot water took five minutes of running the tap. There was frequent barking from the dog kennel, and I got stung by a bee while walking around the property, where they also produce honey.
A lovely spot if you enjoy being around animals. The room was spotless, the staff polite, and the restaurant was great.
Such a beautiful place to unwind in the middle of nature. Keep it up!
