The owner and staff were kind and always ready to help, and the rooms were clean and pleasant. We spent a week here with our family, and the well-kept building added to the experience. We were so happy with our stay that we'll remember it for a long, long time.

Nine of us spent a week here, using the place as a peaceful base for day trips around Tuscany's towns and villages. The breakfast was wonderful, and the pool was beautiful. It's a family-run estate with olive orchards and fruit trees, set in lovely grounds with views over the Tuscan countryside. Jessica greets you when you arrive, and her mom and dad help make sure your stay goes well. A lovely place, highly recommended.

The insect swarm around the property was massive, the bedding looked old and dingy, and even a pool towel came at an extra charge. Before the air conditioning problem, I had also asked the woman working there about the surrounding area, and she was dismissive and unwilling to help. I can't understand how someone like that can work in hospitality or interact with other people. I had called ahead specifically to confirm there was air conditioning before booking, and she had confirmed it twice. When I arrived, I reported that it wasn't working, but she refused to acknowledge a problem or try to fix it. After an hour and ten minutes with no change, she shouted at me aggressively, cursed at me in Italian, and complained that I was bothering her. I called my 74-year-old mother, who speaks Italian, in case we had a language issue. There wasn't one. The woman shouted and cursed at her too. She verbally abused me while I stood there crying, then told me to leave if I didn't like it. I'm a young woman traveling alone, had just spent four hours getting there, and it was 7 pm on a Friday in high season. It was a shocking and traumatic experience. In 20 years of travel and 62 countries, I've never been treated worse by hotel staff. The air conditioning was broken in the middle of a summer heat wave, and staff wouldn't do anything about it.

The views, pool, grounds, and receptionist were lovely. But the rooms were a real letdown, and felt more like a one- or two-star hotel. Ours was dark, with a creaky metal bed, just two pillows, plastic cups, a plastic bottle of water, and one single-use shampoo packet. There was no coffee or tea setup and no stocked mini fridge. At most 3- to 5-star hotels, I expect larger reusable bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap, plus a stocked fridge, a coffee and tea area, and more pillows. There also wasn't a place for lunch, dinner, or cocktails. Other hotels nearby at a similar nightly price offer those options, which are appealing. I stayed at I Borghi Dell'Eremo for two nights before coming here, and it was an incredible hotel for nearly the same price. Given the room and dining options, I don't understand the high nightly price or reviews. It's a shame, because with more effort on those details and updated room decor, this hotel could have five-star potential.
