Antico Granaione

I’m sorry to leave such a negative review, because the staff were kind and professional, breakfast was okay, the village was lovely, parking was free and only a two-minute walk away, and the price seemed fair. But I barely slept during either of my two nights. The next room was so loud at 11pm, with loud talking, a ringing phone, and intense snoring, that even ear protection didn’t help. I’ve never heard snoring like it, and I’m not exaggerating. It wasn’t the staff’s fault that the guests were noisy, but hotel rooms need some basic soundproofing. The building seems to be a large house divided into rooms, and the walls don’t meet the roof properly, so voices carry over as if someone were right beside you. You can hear people in the corridors too. In the shower, I could hear the people next door as if they were sitting on my toilet. There were other issues as well: the heater didn’t work, something I’d seen mentioned in another review, there was shampoo but no body soap, and the water temperature was unpredictable at times. With no sleep, the work trip and meetings were really difficult because of the fatigue. Good service and breakfast don’t make up for a hotel where you can’t rest.

The view outside by the parking lot was amazing, and the room had a lovely, simple Italian style. Breakfast was satisfying, with plenty of croissants and cheeses to choose from. The village itself is quiet and small. Be ready for the climb, though: there’s no elevator, just stairs and an uphill ramp. When we arrived, the staff member who greeted us didn’t speak English, which was a little frustrating at first, but Google Translate worked fine. After all those stairs, the room made it worthwhile. I’d love to come back.

The staff were lovely, and I really liked the location and the building. The decor wasn’t quite to my taste, though the features were beautiful. Breakfast was limited and not very varied, but at that price it was better than nothing. The big problem was the partitions between rooms. They were awful for sound, and I could hear everything, so I couldn’t sleep.

At Antico Granaione, I had a very enjoyable stay. My room was clean and cute, and both the service and the staff were extraordinary.
