Getting there was easy, and the town with its good market is very close. The staff made us feel like family, and the hotel was so lovely and peaceful that I wish we could have stayed longer.

There are nice nature walks through the forest, and you can buy a bottle of wine from the staff at a very good price. They’re attentive and friendly, and the villa feels like decent value. Just plan your meals ahead: there’s no lunch or dinner menu, and they can only put together a few cheeses.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with excellent sweet and savoury food that was organic and locally produced. We also loved the secluded second pool and the trekking paths through the woods. The staff were friendly, kind, and very professional, and the rooms were grand, clean, and looked out over a gorgeous landscape. The villa has a raw kind of magic that feels like stepping back in time. It made a wonderful romantic getaway, though we wished we could have stayed longer.

The location worked well for exploring Tuscany, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby since dinner isn’t served at the property. We ate at La Sosta. The setting there wasn’t the prettiest, but the food was amazing. Back at the villa, our spacious, nicely styled room felt comfortable, and having two pools meant they stayed quiet and uncrowded. A beautiful place to stay.
