Residence Villa Rosa

My five days here were really good value. The room was clean and tidy, and I had a lovely view towards the sea from my balcony. Breakfast was a real highlight, with fresh rolls, croissants, pastries and more. The proprietor was very helpful, and I’d happily recommend staying here.

Luciano made the stay especially nice. He was friendly, funny, and always available, and the pool area had loungers reserved for each room. Atrani town and the beach are about a 10-minute walk away, which is handy since you’d rather not drive if you can help it. The views are incredible and it’s a great holiday spot. The one drawback for us was the lack of air conditioning.

The views get more beautiful the higher you go, and we found the effort of the steps worthwhile even though I’m not especially fit. I could manage going up and down several times a day with breaks. It’s about a 20-minute walk to Amalfi, while Atrani is the nearest piazza and has a small beach that was much quieter. We loved that the area felt less touristy. We had everything we needed in the apartment: a good shower, comfortable bed, and a clean little kitchenette with some basic supplies. The communal laundry room was useful too. We stayed three nights and had a great time. Luciano was warm and easy to chat with when he welcomed us. We’d read about the rubbish arrangements beforehand and were a bit confused, but Luciano explained them. We understood there are particular recycling and waste rules to protect the Amalfi Coast’s UNESCO status, so setting aside a little time to follow them was no trouble. We were also ready for the deposit; we were a little short on cash at first, but Luciano was relaxed about it and we got the rest from an ATM the next day. On our last day, a public holiday had us concerned about transport. At very short notice, Luciano arranged a ride back to Naples, let us spend time by the pool while we got organized, and said we could contact him if we needed help even after reaching Naples. That was incredibly kind, and we really appreciated it. We loved our stay. We’d highly recommend Ravello and Villa Cimbrone, perhaps taking the bus on the way up.

Getting to the apartment means climbing roughly 400 steps, but the views make it worth the effort. Villa Rosa is close to Amalfi, Atrani and Ravello, and the apartment has what you need. If anything’s missing, the host is happy to help. Luciano was so kind, gave us lots of useful tips, and speaks English really well. We enjoyed the pool, walks into Amalfi, the beach, and taking a boat to see the coast.
