Ad Astra Rooms

The staff were helpful and courteous when we arrived Saturday morning, and by luck we found a parking spot right in front. But the room was cold, and the toilet was dirty and clearly hadn't been sanitized. The power went out while we were showering that afternoon, though it was fixed quickly. We had a race the next morning. Breakfast was fairly adequate, and we were able to shower after coming back. Our friends also found their bathroom dirty. When they returned later, they were charged an extra €30.00 for a shower and treated unpleasantly. If you choose to be courteous, you need to follow through, or make the conditions clear from the beginning. Otherwise people won't come back.

Mr. Paolo was attentive, very kind, and always on hand to help make the stay comfortable. The rooms were clean, well looked after, and had all the basics and comforts, including free Wi-Fi and a smart TV. The welcome was warm from the moment I arrived, and the location made it easy to explore the city. Breakfast was delicious. I had a wonderful stay and would gladly recommend this B&B.

We chose the place for its convenient location near the center and the foot race finish line, though €170 felt high for two adults and our 9-year-old. Parking was on the street, which would be closed until 4 PM on race day. When we booked, the owner said he would leave the room available for us to shower after the race and that our child wouldn't be charged. He never gave a check-out time or mentioned a penalty. The room was decent, but we could hear everything through a plywood sheet between the rooms. The bathroom looked new, yet the seat cover wasn't clean: the ring underneath was yellow, and there was dust and hair. The room was cold and damp, though the heat pump helped, if used sparingly. Because of a physical problem, it took me a long time to get home after the race. We showered, packed, said goodbye, and left at 4:10 PM. Then we were told, “I have to pay €30 because you took advantage of me and even turned on the heat pump,” and “you're the only ones left.” Mr. Paolo, if you'd made the departure time clear from the start, this could have been avoided. Not everyone finishes a marathon at the same time. Keep the €30, it'll make you rich. I'll keep my dignity as someone honest who doesn't take advantage of anyone. €170 was already too much for that room. Good luck. PS: We called her “dishonest” at the end because we didn't expect her to be so arrogant, demanding the money immediately and brandishing the card for €30. She could have been kinder and more understanding, since we didn't stay into the night and only used the room to shower. Have a good life.

The B&B is only a five-minute walk from the historic center, and Mr. Paolo and his wife were discreet but thoughtful, helping us decide what to see and where to eat. Our room was spacious and clean, with a large bathroom and a really superb shower. Breakfast was all sweet, with several kinds of croissants and plenty of other choices, and it was good. The owners made us feel very welcome.
