The late night street noise below is the one downside of this central spot, though it isn’t the property’s fault. Otherwise, we found the apartment beautiful and comfortable, with two separate rooms, individual air conditioning, good beds, a roomy bathroom, and a lovely terrace. The owner arranged everything we asked for at breakfast, with fresh, high quality food. Guests can also use a gym a few meters away. It sits at the entrance to the ZTL, and there’s a convenient garage two minutes away. The owner’s shop has organic products, vegan food, and excellent fresh fruit. Highly recommended.

A note for light sleepers: the old building has creaky floors and doors that shut loudly, and the bars and restaurants outside bring some noise until around midnight. Neither bothered us or took away from the charm of the place. We stayed in the spacious “Chiara” and “Christina” suites at Caterina Residenza, right in Ravenna’s pedestrian center. Most sights are an easy walk away, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops nearby. The suites are beautifully put together, mixing Baroque, Biedermeier, and Art Nouveau styles with lots of attention to detail. High ceilings and thick wooden floors make them feel airy, and the air conditioning kept the temperature comfortable. A real treat was the hosts’ fruit and vegetable shop right next door, where we enjoyed fresh goodies each day. The hostess and whole team were friendly and helpful. If you like looking through catalogs such as “Loberon” or “Maison du Monde,” you’ll feel right at home here.

Caterina was lovely and happy to answer questions. The room is spacious and charming, with comforts throughout and one of a kind pieces she found through her research. Breakfast came with tea, coffee, milk, juice, fresh fruit salad and fruit, pastries, biscuits, and more. The location is terrific, right in the center near the main museums and sights. Highly recommend.

The room had an interesting design and was lovingly furnished, but it wasn’t always practical. The bed on the gallery can only be reached by a narrow metal spiral staircase. Breakfast was fine, especially the fresh fruit. The real issue was the bar directly below: loud bass heavy music and noisy customers carried on until 2 a.m. The air conditioner also made a loud hum about every ten minutes, so getting much sleep was nearly impossible. Maybe suitable for night owls, but watch out for that staircase, and I wouldn’t recommend it if you need to get up early.
