Dante Ravenna Apartments

The apartment looks out on a quiet street, and the bar downstairs didn't bother us. It actually brought a bit of cheer. Inside, it was clean, with spotless sheets and towels, a well-equipped kitchen, a nice-smelling welcome kit in the spacious bathroom, and excellent WiFi. Its location made it easy to explore Ravenna's main monuments on foot, with the ZTL only a few meters away. We also left our car in a nearby garage, just a few meters away, for a few euros day and night. Management sent clear instructions for getting in. I'll definitely return.

The location is the best part: five stars for being tucked down an alley just steps from the center, nightlife, and all the tourist sights. Inside, though, there are a lot of problems. The place smells musty, smoky, and stale as soon as you walk in. The furnishings seem neglected, with a sofa full of holes, burst pillows, and glaring yellow stains hidden by turning the mattress over. The walls and window frames have quite a bit of mold, which smells bad and can be harmful to health. The windows are hard to open and close, and water gets in when it rains. The curtains need regular washing and sanitizing too. Getting help from the owners is difficult, whether something is missing or other guests keep you awake with noise and arguments. It needs maintenance and at least basic assistance. A great location alone isn't enough. Three stars only because the location brings up the average.

The apartment has potential, but it felt neglected and unwelcoming. I shared it with three colleagues on a business trip, and there weren't enough closets or drawers for us, or even a coat hanger, so our things were left in a mess. The worst part was the damp. Condensation kept forming, the windows were always wet, and mold had spread around the apartment. We were blamed for it even though we aired the place every day and used the hood and extractor fan. Two of the three windows were broken and wouldn't open, so being told to air the place out was a mystery. Rain also came inside through the windows, yet we were still held responsible for the mold. The apartment was freezing. We asked for more blankets but didn't get any, and the few thin ones there were weren't enough. We all got sick, and two radiators were out of order for more than half the stay. Before leaving, we also asked to leave our luggage there, but no one came to meet us, so we had to carry it around for four hours after checkout while waiting for our train.

Apartment No. 614 felt bare, with few furnishings and what was there seemed low quality. The neon lighting made the place feel gloomy and like a hospital, and the bed blankets reminded me of sleeping cars. Cleanliness was disappointing too. It's a shame, because with a little effort and some extra money it could be a proper part of the apartment. The hospitality suffers, while the profit seems assured.
