Hotel Diana

The staff were wonderfully helpful and had loads of suggestions for things to do. It's just outside the main area, but an easy walk gets you everywhere. The rooms are basic, though a good size, and breakfast was great. For that price, it was much better than I expected.

Phillip at the front desk was the highlight of our stay. He knows Ravenna inside out, speaks perfect English, and seemed able to help with just about anything. He was attentive and funny, and helped my older parents with restaurants and getting transport to the port. The hotel itself has old-school charm, very good A/C, a lovely free breakfast, and a great spot near excellent restaurants and the indoor mercato. The location and breakfast alone would have earned five stars, and the rooms were charming too. In Ravenna, I wouldn't stay anywhere else, even if another place were free.

The reception staff were very rude, and the room was cold, smelly, dusty, and in poor shape. It clearly needs renovation, and there was a strong mold smell, so be careful if you have a mold allergy. The air conditioning, which was listed among the hotel's amenities, wasn't working. I couldn't sleep the first night because it was so cold. When we asked at reception, we were told the city didn't allow the A/C to be used. But it was on throughout the breakfast area, so it seemed the receptionist had lied to us. This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Avoid it.

Filippo, his son Carlo, and the rest of the staff give great personal service. They're always around to help with whatever visitors need as tourists, and breakfast is wonderful. I've stayed at Hotel Diana several times.
