Casa Vania

We spent most of our time either heading out to explore or unwinding at the cottage, and both worked perfectly. It sits in a lovely little village with good restaurants and useful amenities. The scenery from halfway up the mountain is incredible, and waking up to that wide view felt like being in a postcard. The pool was cleaned very early, and the grounds were tidied each morning. The house is kept in great shape and has everything you need. We arrived with plenty of food and household bits, then found we could have left most of it behind. The hosts had also left a bottle of wine and a tasty cake for us. We were three people in a house set up for around six, so we had loads of room. The owners don't speak much English, but they arranged for Iris, who welcomed us warmly and explained everything clearly. Thanks, Iris, for the lovely welcome and checkout. A few practical things: the outside doors have no handles, so remember your key if you step out. We got locked out once, though the owners live nearby and came to help quickly. Wi-Fi is good in the main rooms but doesn't quite reach the bedrooms downstairs. The tap water was brown at times, but there’s a free spring water fountain in the village square. Laundry costs 5 euros per use for each machine, paid with the sort of tokens used at campsites. It runs on trust, though that felt a little expensive.
