Breakfast was outstanding, and there are restaurants and shops just around the corner. The room was lovely and comfortable, with a good-sized bathroom, while the streets nearby stayed quiet. Staff made us feel welcome. You can get here from Reggio Emilia AV train station by bus and then on foot.

I spent more than eight days feeling congested and stressed in a terrible room. It was a very small single, dark, with little windows, no ventilation, and a strong mould smell that made it hard to breathe or sleep. Management wouldn’t move me or take my feedback seriously. They just told me to open the windows and said nothing could be done. The reception staff weren’t friendly and didn’t listen or seem to care. Such a disappointing stay, one of the worst hotels I’ve been in.

We made Albergo delle Notarie our base for five days while visiting Parma, Modena, and Bologna, and its central position worked perfectly for getting between those places. The staff made the stay, though. Christof at the front desk handled every task, even complicated, difficult ones, effortlessly and flawlessly. Nicola was so pleasant and professional, and housekeeping and food service made us feel like family. They’re kind, considerate people. What a great hotel, I highly recommend Albergo delle Notarie.

It was May and over 30 degrees outside, but they wouldn’t switch on the AC. They said it was because of a law, but I checked and couldn’t find any such rule for hotels. The law they seemed to mean applies to public buildings like schools. AC was listed as available in our room on Booking, and after all that, they couldn’t even give us a fan.

Breakfast was fabulous, especially the hot chocolate, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. My room was lovely, very old, and wonderfully quiet. The hotel is beautiful and right in the centre of town.
