The location is excellent, right in the historic center, and there’s an incredible smell of baking from the nearby bakery as soon as you step out of the room. But the stairwell is poorly lit, and this is on the third floor with no elevator, which really needs to be made clear. The room door handle and toilet paper holder are broken. There’s no proper shower head, just an unstable hand shower. The TV has no built-in decoder, gets very poor channel reception, and has no Netflix or other services. The bed is too soft for me, though that’s subjective, and the wooden headboard is uncomfortable and fragile, coming loose at the first touch.

Breakfast is served at the bakery downstairs, and it’s an excellent Italian breakfast. The owner is very kind. In the room there’s a kettle, refrigerator, and air conditioning, plus excellent sheets and pillows. It’s a very spacious room with careful furnishings, in a high attic that gives it a distinctive feel rather than causing any problem. The bathroom is large and has quality toiletries. It’s on the third floor without an elevator, and there’s a small terrace.

The owner was very kind and helpful, and even kept our luggage safe after checkout. Thanks again for that. Breakfast, though, was a drawback: the café downstairs lets you get a cappuccino and croissant, but seating is limited and people keep coming and going, so we had to hurry and eat standing up. The house looks old outside, but inside you can see the effort to make it welcoming. Our room was well furnished, and the renovated stairs have a fresh whitewash, a lovely mural, and photos of guests that should add a classy touch when they arrive. The walls are incredibly thin, though, and we could hear the neighbors talking as if they were right beside us. It got loud later on. The mattress also felt a bit too firm, but that’s subjective and not a major issue for me. A good experience overall, and reasonably priced.

The room was very clean, and that’s the end of the positives for me. The location is the clear strength: five minutes from the city center and five minutes from either the bus stop or central train station. The room is in the attic, which is where the name comes from, with modest, somewhat vintage furnishings. It’s on the third floor of an older building with no elevator. The included breakfast voucher gets you one coffee, one croissant, one glass of juice, and water at the bar/patisserie next door. I needed more, so I paid separately for another croissant and coffee. You pick this place for its location, and that’s enough.
