Hotiday Reggio Emilia Gaida

The hotel was quiet and tidy, with everything we needed, including bathroom cosmetics and laundry bags. Breakfast was pleasant, and the staff were wonderful. We came away with only good impressions and had a great stay.

The staff were nice, and the hotel was mostly clean. A plus for switching on the AC earlier in the season than other hotels nearby. Only two staff members spoke English, but that wasn’t really a problem. The beds were bad, though, and the bathrooms were rough, with cracked tiles, holes in the wall, and a poor showerhead. There was also nowhere to iron a shirt or trousers. I’d call it an okay business hotel: nothing premium, but nothing else especially bad.

For €42, our double room came with breakfast, and the room itself was comfortable and air-conditioned. The breakfast spread leans heavily toward sweets, despite being described as continental. Eggs were cold when boiled, while scrambled or fried eggs cost an extra €4.20. Staff seemed to refill things mostly when asked, which was disappointing. Still, the price was good.

The restaurant in the building was good, and there’s a large free parking lot right outside. Inside, the rooms were roomy, clean, and well soundproofed from each other. Reception was friendly and helpful, with excellent English, and breakfast was average but fresh. The internet kept having connection issues, and I wasn’t comfortable with the slightly perfumed smell in the room.
