Villaggio Marco Polo Residence - Ricadi

The village is clean, quiet and beautiful, with activities and great music for adults and kids. We liked going to the pool after a long day on the calm, clean beach. All the rooms are just steps from the beach, so getting there is easy.

The setting is lovely, with a nice garden and stunning cliff views. The beach was good, and the elevator was very useful. Sadly, the rooms are really dated and the hotel needs renovation. I was disappointed by the staff's behavior. Almost nobody spoke English, German or Spanish, only Italian, apart from some non-Italian cleaners and one waiter. The young staff seemed unprepared for service, often not even replying to a good morning or hello. It felt rude, and the restaurant manager was the same. Drinks and food at the bars were overpriced, especially since you have to climb the hill to reach a supermarket. The half-board food was nice for Italian dishes like pasta and fish, but the rest needs a lot of improvement, though I did see them trying to improve breakfast each day. Please teach the staff how to treat paying customers. The hotel is in a very nice place, and that could really help.

The view and beach are beautiful, but the accommodation and staff have been awful so far. I'm only one night in, already wishing we'd chosen somewhere else, and glad we booked just two nights. This is the first bad review I've written, despite visiting six different countries this year. The apartment has no AC, and it feels hotter inside than outside. Everything is dated, and the TV can't be plugged in because there's no wall outlet. We don't watch TV anyway, but still. You can hear everything, including loud music playing past midnight.

The views and location are amazing, and the rooms are large. They aren't very well equipped with amenities, though. Staff were friendly, and it was so cheap for the area.
