Villa Oracola

We arrived at the villa at 4:00 pm on the day we had booked, but the owner said he hadn’t received the reservation, even though I already had a confirmation. He said there would be other people from the next day. Since it was already late and dark, I asked if we could stay that night, but he immediately refused. He didn’t want to change the sheets the next day, so he left us out on a dark road. I’d avoid this place.

We booked five nights through Booking.com for the week of August 15th. The country house had a well-kept garden, and there was a pen with 15 goats on the other side. That part seemed normal for a country house. Inside, though, the place was in complete disrepair: a strong moldy, damp smell, mold, dirt, cobwebs, dust that looked months old, and unopened breakfast items that had expired. When we complained, the owner was arrogant and insolent. Instead of dealing with the problems, he said it was all normal to him and rudely told us to leave right away, without refunding the 50% penalty. One night there cost us €150.

Calling this a villa is a stretch. It’s a rundown shack left to rot, and the owner is incredibly arrogant and condescending. A terrible place to stay.

The house was spectacular, like stepping back in time and living as a lady of the court. Such a shame I could stay for just one night. I’d highly recommend it.
