Hotel Gaston

The location was fantastic, and I really appreciated having a balcony. The room was clean and fairly spacious, and the price seemed right until we checked in. This doesn't feel like a 4-star hotel. There's nothing here that warrants four stars, and at best I'd call it a 3-star place. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but it felt like that's mostly what we paid for. Nearly everything came with a charge, even in September, when we visited in the off-season. A spot on the beach cost 15 Euro, a towel rental was 5 euro, and continental breakfast also cost extra. The internet was unreliable and intermittent, with almost no range and only 6 megabit download speed. I was also surprised to find that the room had zero power unless the key was in the wall. That meant no charging my phone or electric shaver, and no AC while we were out. To me, that's unacceptable.

The receptionists were friendly and smiling around the clock, and breakfast was hygienic with almost everything you could want. Room cleaning was excellent, too. Even with temperatures above 40 degrees, we got a deep, good night's sleep thanks to the air conditioner. The cleaning staff were respectful and did their job really well. There's an attendant at the pool, which is medium-sized, though I think it's a bit small for this hotel. The hotel has its own secured parking area, but driving on the streets was difficult with cars parked on both sides. In short, I think this place deserves 5 stars. Thanks for everything. Robin

The staff were friendly, but the amenities were terrible. It's not a 4-star hotel, or even a 3-star one. At best, I'd give it 2.5 stars. My room got so hot that I had to sleep with the door open because the AC wasn't working. I don't think it was broken, though. I think they considered it too cold to run. I came to visit San Marino, and if I return, I'd stay there instead of in Rimini.

The only good thing about this place was how close it was to the beach. The pool was closed, my room was old and very small, and the bathroom was tiny. Breakfast wasn't good and there wasn't much variety. They could at least have served decent coffee, but it came from an automatic machine and hardly tasted like coffee. The male staff were nice, as was the young woman, but the older woman at reception wasn't. I booked because I expected a 4-star hotel, and was disappointed that my stay turned into a mess.
