Hotel Colonna

Aldo and the staff made us feel very welcome when we arrived. It’s good value for money, and a nice option for a few peaceful days or just a quick stopover. Highly recommended!

The room was simple, pleasant, and clean, but the bathroom was a serious problem. Without a shower tray, water covered the floor and made the sink, bidet, and toilet areas unusable. The curtain’s edge also looked moldy, though I hoped it was just a pattern. When I told reception, the woman said she’d never been upstairs and couldn’t help. She thought hair might be blocking the shower and said she’d report it. Getting there was confusing too. We hadn’t been told when booking that the hotel was inside a restricted traffic zone (ZTL). After driving around for 20 minutes and calling, a woman told us to go through the zone and said they’d give us a permit. We paid €10 a day for parking. We were told it was near the hotel, a 12-minute walk away, and that we’d need a pass for a barrier lot on the street they gave us. After 10 minutes searching, we called again. There was no barrier lot on that street, only a lot with a gate. They eventually confirmed that was the right place, but didn’t initially mention that the parking was under Hotel Canasta, not Hotel Colonna.

Loretta and Roberta were so warm, kind, and helpful that it felt like staying with friends. The whole staff fussed over our children, and our 8-month-old Edo got lots of attention, including fresh baby food made every day. We came to the seaside looking for a bit of warmth and happened upon the Colonna Hotel by chance. What a good find. It’s a two-star place, but nearly on a level with more prestigious hotels. Our room was spacious and had a sea view, and the renovated rooms and common areas were clean and welcoming. The location is excellent too. The home-cooked food was generous and delicious, and breakfast came with homemade cakes, muffins, and cookies. We’ll definitely come back.

We’re back for our second short stay at Hotel Colonna, and the friendly, cheerful hospitality is just as strong as last year. It’s a lovely place for families.
