Hotel Giumer

It was okay.

The staff were genuinely kind and helpful, and the hotel is only 100 meters from the beach. We also got two discounted tickets for Riccione Beach Village, though it seemed more aimed at families with young kids. There were free bus tickets for a particular route and time, plus discounts for the restrooms across the street. The room was the reason I wouldn't come back after our three-day stay. The advertised balcony view of the beach turned out to face other hotels. The air conditioning was broken, and when I asked reception to take a look, the man there said he couldn't leave. We spent the nights sweltering. There was no working bathroom light, so we used my phone flashlight even to wash our hands. The shower had no riser, and washing our hair nearly flooded the room. I had to ask for extra towels to stop the water soaking everything. Breakfast was very limited: plain croissants, packaged toast, and single portions of Nutella, butter, and jam. The coffee machine couldn't make cappuccino, so I had to ask for one at the bar. Pineapple juice from the machine was so diluted it was undrinkable, though the orange juice was okay.

The staff really stood out, qualified and welcoming, and housekeeping kept the rooms tidy and smelling fresh. There's a menu to look over in the morning, so you can mention any personal changes, and the cuisine was excellent. Rooms are small but efficient, especially with the balcony looking out to sea. Reception is open 24 hours, which made this a good place for a holiday with friends. I heard the property is due for modernization, and would happily repeat the experience.

The bed was comfortable, but noise from elsewhere in the hotel was considerable. There was a night porter at reception. The bathroom light didn't work and the shower was missing its glass. We found just one small toilet paper roll, with about 20 sheets, and a beer cap on the unflushed floor. Booking.com showed the reservation costs and taxes as included, but check-in came with an extra €2 per person. Breakfast was offered at €5 per person for coffee and a baguette, though Booking.com listed it as €4, so I declined. I wouldn't recommend the place.
