Sun Beach Residence

The staff were helpful and accommodating, and they were always around when needed. 🙂

The only thing Sun Beach had going for it was the view of the beach. The room was a complete mess: broken doors and table, a filthy bathroom and shower, hair on the sheets, loose electrical cords everywhere, and rickety bunk beds. There was a bad smell too. We arrived on October 1st as agreed after booking through Booking.com. They took our payment when we got there, then showed us the room afterward. We called several times to complain and took photos and videos of its condition. The pictures on Booking.com looked completely different, so we threatened to sue over fraud. They eventually refunded us. That evening we booked another place through Booking.com, Orchidea Blu in Torre Pedrera, which was clean and very welcoming. If you’re thinking of booking Sun Beach, you might want to change your mind and look elsewhere. 😘

Viserba and the Riviera di Romagna are lovely places to stay, but I’d steer clear of this residence. I’ve never had such poor treatment anywhere else on the Riviera. Our ground-floor apartment had no curtains, so anyone walking past could see inside unless we kept the blinds shut. Cooking was a struggle too: there were hardly any glasses or cookware, no bowls for dressing vegetables, and no microwave, even though one was promised when we booked. The shower nozzle sprayed the water into a fine mist, making it take ages to rinse off, if you were lucky. There was no one at reception when we tried to get help. Phone calls went unanswered for two days, or we were told someone would come but nobody arrived. They eventually sent us to another residence’s reception, where at least they gave us a bowl.

The apartment was meant for six, but its kitchen and living area were really cramped. The residence is near the sea, opposite the Playa Tamatindo beach resort. Check-in and check-out were both frustrating. We arrived during the stated check-in hours and still waited about an hour for someone to show up. The same thing happened when we were leaving.
