Agriturismo Il Riccio

The food made the trip worthwhile. We loved the fresh pasta, especially the pumpkin ravioli, the sausage and olive ravioli, and the mushrooms with speck. The beef and pork mains were good, and we appreciated getting a small serving of vegetables with them, since in much of Italy you have to order those separately. The cannoli and almond semifreddo were excellent. We skipped the donkey, though it definitely made us curious for another time. The restaurant had a nice feel, with local art and a fire that warmed up the chilly fall evening. Our waiter was great and spoke perfect English. The bread was a little disappointing and didn’t seem fresh. Getting there was the hard part: our nearby accommodation's owner recommended it, and the drive of 25-30 minutes seemed fine at sunset, but felt like a lot late at night.

The lush green surroundings were lovely, and the Monticchio volcanic lakes are only a five-minute drive away. Stefania also had plenty of suggestions for things to see and do. I only had two days here, but I’d love to return. I traveled alone and felt looked after and at home. Stefania and Antonio have filled the agriturismo with care, including artwork by local artists and little details that reward a closer look. The Lucanian food was heavenly, made with quality regional products, and there was a great wine selection at very reasonable prices. Thank you both for making my stay so special.

We had such a lovely stay at Agriturismo il Riccio. The place was spotless, the food was outstanding, and the staff were warm and kind, especially with the children. The location is beautiful too. We’ll be back!
