We came for a couple of days after Christmas and found a top notch hotel with a great crew, lovely views, and a good location. We’ve stayed at many Hilton properties and a couple of SLH hotels, and this one stood out. Our Superior room had elegant interiors and looked straight out at Etna. The volcano was erupting while we were there, and we could even see it from the room with a telescope, which added a lot to the experience. The crew kindly brought cold cuts to our room for a small dinner on our first night, since we arrived after the kitchen had closed. We really appreciated that. In December the hotel was quiet, with lovely Christmas decorations inside and out. We didn’t try the pool. Breakfast had plenty of local pastries and cakes, plus hot food you could order à la carte. We also had a great dinner at the restaurant, choosing the Il Viaggio tasting menu with wine. The sommelier’s pairings worked very well with the dishes, which were delicious and nicely prepared. They took our allergies seriously and changed or adapted some of the dishes. I especially liked the creative fine cocoa topping on the Creme brulee, which reminded me of Etna erupting. Driving from Catania airport is fairly easy, but have a satnav ready. The last couple of turns can be tricky, especially at night. The hotel isn’t especially close to the major towns, though Catania and Taormina are both an easy 25-minute drive away. A small luxury island in Sicily, very much worth a visit.

We celebrated a special occasion here with friends, and the whole team made us feel welcome. Everyone was warm, professional, and lovely to deal with. Breakfast each morning was incredible, with a big selection of pastries, cakes, loaves, and tarts, as well as a small menu of hot dishes made to order. Aurora helped plan and coordinate our group’s stay, and Giuseppe at the bar made great drinks and led a fun cocktail masterclass. Some of our group also took the cannoli making class and LOVED it. It’s a great activity for kids. Aurora also arranged a visit to Pietradolce winery on the North side of Etna, owned by the same family as Donna Carmela. The tour and tasting were another highlight of our trip. Highly recommended.

We were there for 6 nights as a family of three, using the resort as a place to unwind and explore the coast around Taormina and Mount Etna. The rooms and resort are beautifully designed, and the atmosphere is great. What really stayed with us was how friendly everyone was. Every staff member we met was kind and helpful. I’d highly recommend it.

We arrived late in the evening, but that was no problem. The kitchen had already closed, so they’d thoughtfully left some cold dishes in our room without us even asking. The hotel has beautiful views, with Mount Etna on one side and the sea on the other. We had a wonderful stay in lovely accommodation, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

It’s a quiet, sunny place, and the pool was a highlight along with the excellent restaurant for dinner. We also loved the free breakfast every day, the updated chic rooms, and the beautiful property. The staff were lovely, too. You’re not close to a major town or village, but with a car and no problem driving, the location works perfectly. So quaint and lovely!
