Hotel Europa Sky Pool & Panorama

The heat in this room has been awful. The air conditioning isn't working, and even with the window open for three hours it barely cooled down. It's much cooler outside and in the shared areas. A fan from reception didn't help, and mosquitoes came in through the open window. I have a health condition that makes heat difficult to tolerate and can trigger asthma attacks, so this has been a serious problem for me. I asked to move to a cooler room, but reception refused. The room is also very dark, even though we booked a superior lake-view room. There's a balcony with a view, but sunlight doesn't reach the room, which feels like a cave. It looks old and dated, and there are no slippers or dental kits. We only found paper cups, no glasses. Very poor quality and disappointing for a four-star hotel.

We were pleased with how clean and tidy the room was, and the breakfast was tasty with a great view of the lake. We brought e-bikes and could store and charge them in a dedicated garage. Europa is right in the centre, next to Garda lake. We chose a lake-view room and enjoyed looking out over Garda and the city centre. Everything felt high quality.

The location is the main thing this hotel has going for it. For 250 euros a night, it wasn't worth it otherwise. The balcony-view photos gave us the wrong impression, and that was one reason we booked. The AC was already broken at check-in and stayed that way throughout our visit. They said it had been out for a week before we arrived, but only told us when we checked out. We were advised to leave the windows and balcony doors open, though there are no screens and bugs came in. No fan or other solution was offered, and they wouldn't give any discount, not even on parking. We would have looked elsewhere if we'd known before paying, since this was a special trip and we wanted to sleep. Instead, the first-floor room faced the port, with loud bars until 2am and shops opening around 5am, so we barely slept. The beds are tiny, even for someone who's 5'1. Water splashes onto the floor because the showers and tubs aren't enclosed, so you have to position yourself carefully. There's no kettle in the room or shared coffee machine in the lobby. We also weren't told at check-in about the free city bikes, pool and other amenities, and paid to rent bikes.

The bathtub plug was broken and leaking, and the tub and shower faucet was in really poor condition. Water could come through both at once instead of one or the other. Getting the temperature right took careful adjustment. The place hasn't been maintained properly.
