Hotel Kristal Palace - Tonelli Hotels - Adult Friendly

The rooftop patio is lovely, especially for breakfast, though it can get a bit hot. The balcony views are great, and the shower has impressive water pressure. We also slept really well in the comfortable bed. The hotel itself is very nice, but our room felt a little dated and had a few things that needed fixing. It’s a solid place and good value if it fits your budget, though it didn’t wow us the way some other hotels have.

We were disappointed to end our honeymoon here. The hotel looks smart outside, has a nice lobby, friendly staff, and a beautiful setting, but the rooms fell far short of what we expect from a four-star property. Our check-in went smoothly, and a kind receptionist surprised us with chocolates, fruit, and wine for our honeymoon. The mountain view from the balcony was stunning, and at first things seemed fine. Then we found a large brown mark on the toilet bowl that proved to be faeces when cleaned, and the seat was badly stained at the back. The shower leaked at the pipe connection, drained so slowly that water pooled around my feet, then spread across the bathroom and into the room. We used nearly all our clean towels to mop it up. There were dried snots on the wardrobe doors and blood splashes on the tiles. The sliding wardrobes wobbled as if they might come off their tracks, and the whole room felt worn and dated. We raised the problems, and the receptionist responded quickly and with understanding, moving us to an executive suite that looked more modern. That room still had issues: a loose bathroom lock, another unstable wardrobe, water leaking through the shower sealant, and an air conditioner that vibrated loudly at night and kept us awake. The corridors often smelled of cooking grease. Rooftop bar staff were friendly, but service was patchy and sometimes our drinks never arrived. There was no toilet on the roof, so we had to take the lift down or return to our room. We also couldn’t get an iron, only a limited paid pressing service. Our clothes were badly creased after travelling, and some were unwearable. We tried the hairdryer to get the wrinkles out, without much luck. A nearby four-star hotel had an iron available, so the difference stood out. The location is lovely and staff did try to help, but cleanliness, maintenance, and missing basics were nowhere near the standard we expected. With better care the hotel could be much better. As it was, it left us disappointed at the end of our honeymoon. See attached video and photos.

We came back for a second visit, which says plenty. The food menu is fantastic and everything was delicious. Our room was spotless and well equipped, with a balcony and a stunning view. Every staff member we met was courteous, helpful, and friendly.

We’ve stayed twice and I’d recommend it for a three or four day visit. Breakfast was fresh with plenty of choice, and the hotel has some renovated rooms on one floor that look very good. Service varied, though. Some staff were fine, while others stood chatting in the restaurant, and the restaurant team weren’t always helpful beyond what was on the buffet.
