Marinella hosted us in a setting that felt like a country gentleman’s home, on a green hill with lovely views, olive trees, and blackberry bushes all around. Chef Enrico Pezzotti prepares Italian food that’s refined but still simple, and is happy to explain his cooking approach to guests who are interested. There’s a well-stocked wine cellar, and the smiles made the whole experience even better.

The food was wholesome and authentic, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We had several dining options, all with views that felt restorative, and the location alone is worth the price of admission. On a sunny day, it makes for a unique experience. The one drawback is the wind, which is usually strong because the place sits so high and exposed. If I’m being picky, the spot where we ate had just one shared bathroom.
