Villa Ariccia
About this property
This city hotel is the ancient residence of Prince Chigi and is located on one of the hills of Rome, surrounded by a 2-hectare park. It lies to the south and is only a few minutes away from Rome itself. Furthermore, it is situated on Via Appia Nuova, near to Castelgandolfo and Ciampino airport. The villa has been carefully renovated in order to preserve its original charm and, at the same time, to offer modern comfort. The ancient ruins can still be seen on the property, lending the premises a mysterious flair. The hotel has a total of 60 rooms as well as a garden. The establishment's facilities include an American bar, a restaurant, conference facilities for 150 persons and Internet access. A large car park is also available. The rooms are all equipped with an en suite bathroom, a hairdryer, direct dial telephone and colour TV. The restaurant, with a large inner room and outdoor gazebos facing out onto the park, offers guests typical local dishes and regional wines in a quiet atmosphere for dinner, convivial parties, banquets or gala dinners.

The dining arrangements felt unfair. At dinner, we were directed to one section while other tourists sat elsewhere, and breakfast put our group away from another group that seemed to get better food. When someone with us unknowingly took two yogurts from another table, a woman on staff scolded her and snatched them away. It was fair that the yogurt wasn't ours, but she could have handled it more kindly. The hotel itself is very low quality: old furniture, a cramped and uncomfortable shower, and hair on the blankets. Something also bit my leg in three different spots, and the staff's attitude was rude.

The gardens around this lovely old villa made a beautiful setting for our daughter's wedding reception. Marco and Sarah, the food was very good, and the service was amazing. The staff worked hard and were so pleasant. We didn't stay at the hotel, but some of our wedding party did and enjoyed it. Thank you for making the day so enjoyable and memorable.

The room had been renovated and had all the amenities I needed. I also loved the building and its garden, and the price for the quality was amazing. Aricia has plenty of authentic restaurants, and the train station is nearby for getting to Rome. The city center takes about 50 minutes to reach.

Breakfast was the worst part for me. The coffee had no taste or smell, the bread was dry and very hard, and the choices stayed limited each day to croissants, honey, butter, jam, and sweet bread. We were lucky we only had breakfast there. My room was okay, but my friends' rooms were dusty, and the corridor carpets were dirty and full of dust. The towels in the bathroom were extra thin, more like dish towels. Service was okay apart from the restaurant waitress, who wasn't kind. Maybe she was just having a bad week. ;)

Really good wifi and comfy beds, plus the room was clean. Room service was amazing and the service was great. Definitely worth staying!
