The house itself is beautiful, and the rooms have plenty of space, but the details didn't feel well looked after. The place wasn't very clean. Breakfast had cold eggs and bad coffee, though the sweet croissants were nice. The sauna felt outdated and was very small, and the pool didn't look inviting. The restaurant was overpriced. I didn't get a sense of hospitality here.

We had a memorable week and will definitely come back. From arrival until we left, the staff made us feel looked after, and nothing we asked for seemed like too much trouble. A beautiful hotel with amazing staff.

The restaurant food was exquisite, the wine prices reasonable, and the staff exceptionally helpful. It's a grand historic residence, with large rooms and lounge areas that feel almost palatial. Having a car is best since other facilities are quite a walk away. If you're arriving by train, definitely take a taxi. The hotel can arrange one.

Getting dinner at the restaurant was a struggle. You have to beg for a meal, then listen to their long-winded explanations about why the chef can't work later. That's not what I expect at this price for a hotel stay, especially seeing pictures of celebrities who stayed there on the walls. They really need to improve the service, or four stars is too high a rating for this place.
