Best Western Hotel I Triangoli

The people at reception were kind. The morning woman, who I think was Veronica, was lovely, and the night guy, I think named Herop, helped us book a ride back to the airport after the airline got our return timing wrong. The rest of the stay was awful. This isn’t a four-star hotel, or even a one-star place. The bed was harder than a chopping block, the old room smelled, and there was only one pillow each. No kettle or water, so forget tea or coffee. A piece came off the sliding shower door, and using the shower was a nightmare. Breakfast wasn’t good either. The coffee was awful and I only dared eat a croissant because I worried the rest might upset my stomach. We ended up here because of an airline mistake. Never again!

At 9:30 at night, after I’d shown them my bank transaction and explained repeatedly that I had paid by credit card at check-in, a front desk associate finally said, “Oh you paid with a credit card when you checked in? oh I didn’t know that.” Before that, they’d called to say they had no payment, insisted I pay, and deactivated my key card when I stepped out and came straight back for my phone. They told me to sort it out with booking.com, even though my transaction said Best Western. I had to call my bank on a three-way call, and showing them the transaction also exposed my personal financial details, including my balance. I felt they were trying to take advantage of me and thought they could get away with robbing me.

We booked for four nights with Air Mile points last year, not knowing the hotel hosted tour groups from around the world. Sharing breakfast with people from those groups became a highlight of each morning. Ask the servers for a cappuccino or another coffee, since that’s an upgrade from the machine coffee. The fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, baked goods and cereal changed daily, and the quality was clearly looked after. Staff were helpful, polite and knowledgeable. Our top-floor room had a balcony; although the hotel seemed Art Deco era, it was clean, maintained well and modernized. The area is great for transport, groceries, attractions and restaurants, yet it felt calm and peaceful at night. Rome’s noise and crowds didn’t appeal to us as a place to stay, so we chose carefully after considering the cost and reviews calling this a go-to place in the area. We’re coming back for a second stay, this time on purpose, and I highly recommend it for the same reasons.

The bed was really uncomfortable, and the toilet was average. My airline sent me here after a delay or cancellation with dinner and breakfast supposedly included. Dinner turned out to be a lousy pizza, delivered after more than an hour at 11:42 PM. There was no breakfast, even though the information said they could provide a special breakfast box by 6 AM. At midnight they called to say breakfast wouldn’t be available until 6:30, after I’d already told them I was going to sleep and my taxi was due at 6:15. If an airline sends you here, please avoid it.
