Hotel Darival

We came with a tour group of around 25 rooms, but reception wasn’t prepared for group check-in. The receptionist entered everyone’s passport details individually, and it took about 2 hours. They need to know how to manage a group arrival. The hotel has been renovated, and the rooms are big.

We chose the $65 economy double after the front desk man, who spoke perfect English, offered that or a $85 superior room. We hadn’t booked ahead. The economy room had no window and felt more like a padded cell. The sheets made me itch, though for that price it seemed okay. Breakfast was basic, and the coffee was terrible. At checkout they charged us $75 anyway and wouldn’t honor the price we’d agreed on. Online, last-minute rates had been quoted at $68.50. If I’d known they’d charge more, I would have stayed elsewhere. Two stars at best. Honest review. Dishonest Hotel.

I stayed for 7 nights. The rooms were good, and the location worked well, with Route N66 available if you’re out late. The staff were nice, some spoke English, and they even greeted me with Assalamu Aleykum:D The downside was the glass disposal at 7AM, which woke me up.

The rooms were very clean, and breakfast each day was nice. Staff were friendly and helpful, and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance. There’s also a bus stop right outside that takes you to the terminus. A beautiful, quaint hotel on the outskirts in Rome.
