Belstay Roma Aurelia Hotel

The hotel was quite a way from the attractions, which is why I couldn’t give it 5 stars. Still, the food was lovely and the staff were genuinely nice and helpful. Reception was top notch, and thanks to the shuttle driver for looking after us. Our rooms were spotless every day.

The restaurant was another letdown: the staff were unfriendly, we waited 30 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, then more than an hour for our food. At the front desk, one woman was kind and helpful, but the manager was rude and dismissive. He wouldn’t listen to our concerns or try to fix things, and made us feel like a bother instead of guests. Our room seemed nice at first, but the bathroom was tiny, the air conditioning didn’t work, and it was uncomfortably warm. The outlets didn’t work, the lights shut off after 30 seconds, and we could hear footsteps from upstairs and people next door. Only two of the three very small elevators were working. They barely fit one person with check-in luggage, so waits were long and it was especially difficult for our large group. As foreign guests, we felt unwelcome and treated differently. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel, especially to international travelers.

The hotel isn’t well maintained. The Wi-Fi was down, the lifts were tiny, and the hairdryers were small. They only provided water on the first night. At breakfast, big groups were sent to a separate dining room with very limited choices while other guests got a full buffet. I’d give this hotel a miss.

The breakfast shuttle to Cornelia metro station was good in theory, but in practice the bus had only 8 seats and ran just around 9 or 10 AM. You had to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to get a place. If it filled up, you were out of luck, which is disappointing for such a large hotel. Breakfast itself had a very limited selection for a 4-star hotel, and the woman assigning tables was so unfriendly that we felt uncomfortable and watched the whole time. There is a supermarket nearby, which was a plus, but our stay at Belstay Roma Aurelia was very disappointing. There were ants in the room, mold in the bathroom, and the air conditioning didn’t work. A socket was loose and came out of the wall with the charger cable when we unplugged it. We were on the first floor and could clearly hear noise from the lobby. Smoking was allowed outside, but there was just one seat and one ashtray for guests. I’d strongly advise against staying here.
