ibis Styles Roma Vintage Hotel

The beds were soft and comfortable, and it was nice that the bedding and towels were changed every day. Breakfast was also very good, especially the croissants and pies. Dinner didn't measure up: the fries were partly raw once, and the burgers we had as a main dish another day seemed more raw than cooked. The rooms have some big shortcomings. They're not very well equipped, some windows can't be opened, some doors won't lock, and TVs don't work in every room. The bathrooms are a little old too. The hotel is out on the edge of the city, and getting to central Rome can take an hour because of bad traffic. I don't think this deserves four stars, but I hope the service improves.

After visiting more than 10 countries on what had been a perfect Europe trip, arriving at this hotel in Rome was a shock. The staff treated me terribly, and the experience felt racist. I paid the same rate as other guests and expected the same rights and treatment. The breakfast that was included was awful: cold food, raw eggs, stale bread, and terrible coffee. Then staff made me leave the restaurant while I was still holding my plate, to give priority to other people. I don't recommend this hotel, and I'll never return.

My children are staying here on a school trip, and I'm disgusted. Their complaints include a musty smell, mould, stained shower curtains, hair in the bed and bathroom, and broken floorboards. Reviews have mentioned these problems for up to a year, and apparently nothing has changed. The door knob doesn't work, so my child had to wedge a chair under the door to stop anyone coming in. That mould is a serious health hazard. The musty smell means they're breathing in spores. Health inspectors should close the hotel until it's disinfected. Zero stars. Utterly disgusting. Who rated this four stars? The pictures can speak for themselves.

I booked this hotel for an event at Osteria del Curato after arriving at Ciampino Airport. The hotel's website mentioned a “shuttle,” but there wasn't one at all. Getting between the metro station and the hotel, then onward to Osteria del Curato, meant navigating highway traffic at an interchange. I had to cross ramps with fast-moving cars, which made the walk physically dangerous.
