Mercure Eur Roma West

I didn’t feel safe or comfortable during my stay at Mercure Roma West because of what seemed to be a security problem, including theft incidents. The property also seemed poorly maintained, and cleanliness and basic housekeeping weren’t consistently up to standard. Staff service was average. Responses to concerns were slow, and issues didn’t get proper attention. It was a disappointing stay, especially with the safety worries. I wouldn’t recommend it unless security, cleanliness, and service improve.

I became aware of theft reports during my May 2026 stay, including guests’ belongings and handbags taken from the breakfast area, as well as thefts targeting tourists in the hotel and coach parking lots. The surroundings felt unsafe too, and I felt uneasy as soon as I arrived. Hotel staff seemed aware of how unsafe the hotel and its surroundings were. Guest safety should come first. I’d tell travelers to be extremely careful with their belongings here, or to consider other accommodation in Rome. For your own safety, avoid this hotel.

My bag was stolen from the hotel breakfast area, and the hotel had no useful CCTV footage because there wasn’t proper surveillance coverage where it happened. That made what should have been a straightforward investigation frustrating. Management offered very little support. We were under stress and had suffered financial damage, but felt left to handle the consequences ourselves instead of getting active help and cooperation with the investigation. The incident exposed what looked like serious gaps in security and guest safety procedures. As paying guests, we expected a secure setting and management that would stand by us when something went wrong. Neither happened. The poor surveillance, response, and handling of the matter have completely eroded our confidence in this property. We left worried about the safety of guests and their belongings. We wouldn’t stay again or recommend it to other travellers. There are plenty of hotels that take security seriously and offer meaningful support when problems arise. This wasn’t one of them.

We had a pleasant stay, though the rooms were quite small. We ended up sorting out nearly everything ourselves since there was very little help from the staff. 😊
