All our guests were pleasantly surprised by how elegant yet simple Potrero Grande is. It’s a family-run farmhouse with a charming, time-frozen feel, where you feel at home right away. Giulia was exceptional. She took care of every request and whim, stayed attentive throughout, guided us through the ceremony step by step, and helped behind the scenes. The food was excellent and the staff were just as outstanding. We chose Potrero Grande for our wedding and will definitely return for a relaxing weekend.
From the indoor tables, you can open the windows and take in a breathtaking view of Lake Martignano, with the horses they raise and swans on the lake. There’s also a lawn outside where children can play while waiting for a meal or afterward. The dishes are delicious, well cooked, and beautifully presented. Some of the things I’ve enjoyed here are wide homemade fettuccine with white ragù made from wild boar from Martignano; hand-rolled lasagnette with fresh ricotta and borage, crunchy leaves, and delicate lamb ragù; pork Bombette, four pork loin chops stuffed with parsley, Pienza pecorino cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and breadcrumbs, cooked on a spit; and mixed garden salad with strawberries, primo sale cheese, and toasted pumpkin seeds.
A lovely place for an event or a holiday, just a short distance from the city. It’s carefully maintained and refined, with a one-of-a-kind feel. Worth visiting, or staying longer to reconnect with nature and quiet.
