Loretta even arranged our luggage transfer and offered to drive us to the Lake Viverone shore, about a kilometre away, though it’s also walkable. The trattoria was closed for Ferie while we were there, so she offered to cook for us. Roppolo is a lovely little village with a trattoria and pasticceria, and the lake is close by for a spritz, antipasto, or a bite to eat. On the Via Francigena, the route passes right by B&B Villa Emilia 1899, and drivers can park out front. Loretta is engaging and welcoming, and her villa has been tastefully renovated, with colourful mementos that suit her outgoing personality. One room has a “Juliette balcony,” and you get lake views from the top-level balcony. This place and its host are a real gem, a much better alternative to staying in Viverone.

The house is incredible, and Loretta has such enchanting energy. After I arrived tired from walking the Via Francigena, she kindly gave me soup. There was beer in the fridge, and she brought me wine too. I loved the big breakfast, and the terrace has amazing lake views. Highly recommend. Thank you, Loretta and Farouk, the lovely dog. ❤️❤️❤️

Breakfast was delicious and generous, served in a special room in the garden. Loretta welcomed us like old friends and was a very gracious host. Our charming room was full of art from her travels. I highly recommend B&B villa Emilia.

The house is a feast for the eyes, furnished with so much care. Loretta clearly has a heart for pilgrims: she welcomed me warmly, started the washing machine for my clothes, and made me something to eat when the restaurants were closed. What a spirit. If you’re travelling the Via Francigena, this is a wonderful place to spend the night.

Loretta is a wonderful hostess with lots of fun stories, and Faroukh is the sweetest dog you could meet. The rooms are lovely and very clean, and breakfast was amazing. Staying at Villa Emilia was an absolutely wonderful experience.
