We got back at 11:30pm, and the entry code we’d been given for after the hotel closed at 10pm didn’t work. I called the hotel and spoke, I think, with the owner. Even after I explained that we had two rooms, she refused to let us in. Someone at a small restaurant at the end of the road helped contact the owner of the Matteo hotel, and after about 10 minutes the door opened and we were admitted. In the morning we chose to check out. We’d stayed two nights but had booked five, and they insisted the booking was a contract requiring us to stay all five. I called my Italian friend, who spoke with the owner for an hour, but she wouldn’t budge. In the end, she discounted dinner and the beach. The website details weren’t accurate. Dinner was served at another hotel, and the quality was awful, not what we expected in Abruzzo. We paid the balance and left. We’ll never return to this hotel.

On our first night, the owner's son, who was working as a night auditor, harassed me. The owner had agreed to meet at a certain time but never showed up. We ended up reporting him, but the police did nothing in the end.

If you want to relax and feel at ease, this is the place. Hotel DI MATTEO is a wonderful hotel with sincere, helpful staff. The cooks are incredibly talented and made delicious lunches and dinners, and the maids and managers were wonderful too. Many thanks to the DI MATTEO hotel, Anna, Luca, Luigi, Giulia and Ernesto for everything! 💙💛

The best part of this hotel is the crew and their customer-focused attitude. It’s also close to the seaside. I gave it three stars because the rooms are a little small and the breakfast selection wasn’t very good.

Alice deserves a special thank you. The staff were so nice, kind, and helpful, and breakfast was excellent, with homemade tarts and a good buffet. We spent three days there with two friends and had a great time. Our air conditioning had a problem, but they fixed it straight away. The room and the rest of the hotel were impeccably clean. The location was perfect, about 100 meters from the beach, and we could easily walk to the center in the evening.
