Relais Il Sigillo

Charging €10 per person for arriving after 23:00 is outrageous. When I asked whether €10 total would be acceptable, she took it as if I meant a police fine, and got angry. The owners didn’t understand my English well and misread what I said. I found their behavior rude, unfriendly and far too emotional, and reported her to AirBnb. They seem to expect everything done their way, or you end up in serious trouble. Don’t expect special customer care here. This was the worst experience I’ve had trying to arrange a late check-in. I found a better AirBnb afterward, where everything was organized and explained clearly, and late arrival was no problem. They didn’t charge extra either.

The room was rustic, as advertised, and in perfect condition, clearly well maintained. Check-in worked differently from other bed and breakfasts I’ve stayed at: they sent a code so we could collect the key ourselves. Breakfast was included, but choices were very limited, just a few homemade pastries, coffee and juice. If you’re looking for somewhere rustic and quiet, this fits.

I felt like family at this restaurant, which is set in the old stables of the castle above. The food was good, and we got to see the wine cellar at the back. I think my pasta was homemade.

We had a bad experience after the owner messed up our order, then argued with us. He came across as arrogant, rude and incompetent. The language barrier made everything worse. We won’t be back.
