Bahia di Buzios

We paid €150 for one night, and the room was nowhere near worth that. We chose this B&B because of the promising photos, but what we found was very different. The room was stifling in the scorching heat, with no air conditioning, just an old, dirty, noisy fan. Musty-smelling pillows made it hard to rest, and we kept waking up from the heat and mosquito bites. The bath water tasted unpleasantly of iron, and the windows were in terrible shape, with broken screens that let insects through. Outside, the land was overgrown with weeds and appeared neglected, while the large house itself looked dilapidated. I'm sorry to leave such a negative review, but other travelers should know the pictures don't reflect reality at all.

We visited in April, and though the weather wasn't warm, the hosts quickly brought us a duvet that kept us comfortable. The mosquito nets were a nice touch too. Our room was very large, with a generous bathroom and a comfortable bed, and they brought extra pillows when we asked. Breakfast was complimentary and lovely, served on the outdoor patio facing the garden. Marisa welcomed us warmly and was friendly, kind, and helpful. The place sits among the pines, so it's peaceful, and we felt at home right away. Excellent value.

This feels like a place for a couple of nights at most; I wouldn't choose it for a longer visit right now. I paid around €100 a night, which didn't feel like the best value, though that seems common around Sabaudia. The owner was courteous and unobtrusive, and the homemade donut was good, but the rest of breakfast was mediocre and could be better. At first the cleanliness seemed fine, then I noticed the hidden areas weren't dusted. In my room, the shower tiles and plastic screen could have used descaling, and the screen didn't close properly. The villa is set among huge pines and oaks, in a charming spot that's handy for Torre Paola beach. The shuttle stops at the gate, or it's a two-minute drive. The place has a lot of potential, but the old windows and mosquito nets, patched with brown tape, weren't soundproof. Maybe we were unlucky with the wind, but gusts made a lot of noise at night.

The paid breakfast was generous and really good, and Marisa was kind and helpful. We had quiet nights in the forest, away from the crowds around San Felice. The property sits in a beautiful wooded setting, two kilometers from Torre Paola beach, perhaps the loveliest part of the Sabaudia coast below Mount Circeo. The building is a bit spartan inside but works well. Some things could be improved, though I found it good value as long as you're not expecting the standards and amenities of a five-star place.
