Agriturismo Villa delle Acacie

The pizza was sublime.

We planned to stay one night to split up the long drive to Calabria. Villa delle Acacie is just off the A2 motorway, so it seemed like a handy stop. We enjoyed it so much that we came back for the return drive too, something we hadn’t even considered at first. Maria, the agriturismo manager, made us feel at home straight away. She’s a delightful person, always available, and responds to every request with care and courtesy. The farmhouse is a beautiful natural stone building from the early 20th century, looked after down to the smallest detail. It feels welcoming, and the plants and flowers outside add to that. There are only six rooms, all bright, spacious, and immaculately clean. Some look out toward the mountains. We could also use the terrace full of plants, a peaceful spot to enjoy the fresh evening air before dinner. Dinner is downstairs, reached by an old staircase that’s another charming detail of the property. The food was fantastic, with top-quality ingredients, deep-crust pizzas from a wood-fired oven, and hearty, delicious first courses. Eating under the grape pergola was romantic and atmospheric. The restaurant fills up after 7 pm, so booking ahead is a good idea. We booked around that time, and found the prices fair. The staff were kind, friendly, and always available too. Breakfast was a small but complete buffet, with croissants, tasty artisanal jams, and desserts Maria made herself. She was there to prepare cappuccinos, coffee, warm bread, and toast, all excellent. Maria also knows a lot about the archaeological sites nearby and can suggest routes, with documents, photos, and flyers to help you explore. What started as a simple overnight stop turned into a lovely surprise. We think it’ll become a regular stop whenever we travel south. Everything was truly exceptional. Thank you so much!

The dishes taste delicious and look beautiful too, because presentation matters. The place feels welcoming and family-friendly, and the staff are very knowledgeable and, above all, kind. I recommend it.

We stopped here for one night on the way to Sicily, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. Maria, who runs the agriturismo and is presumably its owner, made us feel at ease and answered all our questions. The property is a stunning old farmhouse, founded in 1930/40, I think I read. There are lots of plants and flowers outside, along with some lovely, sweet dogs. Our room was spotless, spacious, and airy, with a great mountain view and a lovely terrace full of plants. At dawn, the roosters woke us. If you’re an early riser, it feels wonderfully romantic. Dinner was excellent, with fresh, top-quality food and very good homemade bread. The grape pergola made a charming place to eat. The first courses were delicious and generous, and the prices were fair. The Sicilian waitress who took our order and served us was friendly and easy to talk to. One downside was the long wait for a single pizza. It arrived after we’d all finished our first courses, so if you’re dining there, I’d suggest choosing either the restaurant or just the pizzeria. Breakfast was delicious too. It was a small buffet, but had everything we needed, including croissants and homemade jams. Maria also made cappuccinos, coffee, and warmed bread, all excellent. She left us flyers and sent PDF slides with suggested routes to the archaeological sites nearby. Her kindness really was 10/10. These are the kinds of places that stay with you, and you can’t wait to return to. Everything felt special. Thanks again.🩷
